Although consumers will pick and choose from the vast ready-to-wear range and create looks unique to their style, some pieces have universal appeal, and a few of those surfaced quite clearly today during the Parisian fashion house's autumn/winter 2025 show.

Held in the grounds of the Jardin de Tuileries in central Paris, Dior transported show attendees (including Lily James, who looked impeccable in a black peplum top and cigarette pants) to a world of imagination; housed within a gigantic temporary box which in itself is always meta enough, we seemed to be taken a million miles away from reality with a set that featured ice caps rising through the floor, smoke cascading from the ceiling, a jurassic bird flying across the room… and much, much more.

We were led to this faraway land by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, who delved into the French-fashion history books to revitalise flounced-collar shirts, exaggerated cuffs, corsetry and—for the daring dressers out there—dandy-ish knee-length shorts worthy of a swashbuckle or two. As mesmerising and theatrical as the staging was, editors do not sleep on spotting trends or calculating the next big thing.

So, here are the items I saw in the collection that I think Dior's dedicated (and huge) fashion-girl following will be interested in next season.

J'Adore Dior Tees

Style Notes: A forever favourite from the brand, Dior's iconic J'Adore tee will never get old. This statement piece, which is now 25 years old, became a casual layering item instead of the main event, but it still managed to steal the limelight.

Pearl Chokers

Style Notes: So far, several A/W 25 shows have relied on necklaces as the primary jewellery piece. Dior followed suit by modernising the idea of a ruff rendered in peachy tones and trimmed with pearls—very cute.

Monk-Strap Flats

Style Notes: Fashion editors are always on the hunt for chic, comfortable flat shoes that can still have the polish and impact of a pair of heels. Fancy, high-shine monk-strap brogues like these definitely do the trick, especially when paired with pulled-up pop socks.

Pearl-Chain Bags

Style Notes: Dior's bags are always on the prettier, uptown-lady side of things, so it's a win to adorn some of its cherished styles with the addition of a dainty pearl strap.

Using distinctive House codes we all know and love in unexpected or amped-up ways, a slew of Milan’s most prominent fashion businesses leaned into their heritage aesthetics whilst offering something new and fresh. Just as I saw on the streets of Milano, the runways brought a refined yet offbeat attitude to the fashion vision for A/W 25.

Through peculiar colour palettes, strange silhouettes, fabrics that weren’t quite what they seemed, asymmetry and a mix-and-match approach to looking sophisticated, this autumnal line-up wasn’t all about classics and quiet luxury—rather finding a mid-ground between the artsy eclecticism and glamour this city exudes, as well as it’s smarter, pared-back alter ego. Perhaps I’m biased, but this is how I want to dress, and it’s why I say non-stop during MFW that I could see myself living there. People get dressed up on the daily, but they never look OTT.

Prada (by Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada) sent out an archetypal collection that led as the week’s most talked-about show. Challenging the audience to question what femininity looks like, this collection suggested a new type of glamour, free of the archaic tropes of the past. Instead, a kind of dishevelled, undone approach gives women the freedom to be more "throw-on-and-go" and less contrived in our overly curated, perfectly groomed, sculpted and "snatched" times—sweet relief.

Forever perfecting individuality, Marni’s Francesco Rizzo continued to wow the critics with an extravaganza of riotous colour, texture, shape and, ultimately, fun. Fendi celebrated its 100th anniversary, and despite its creative director remaining as-yet unfilled, Silvia Venturini Fendi provided a tour de force (tour de faux fur?) of Fendi glamour that perhaps only a family member entrenched in the business could really do justice.

Gucci, also without a creative director, showed a confident and daring collection that will undoubtedly see editors and fashion people clamouring to own anything with the brand’s signature horsebit. Ferragamo, Tod’s, Bally and Max Mara brought an abundance of classy looks and pieces to build out the most comprehensive capsule wardrobes. Sass wasn’t far behind with David Koma’s debut at Blumarine, Versace’s vibrant dig into the archive and Dolce & Gabbana’s "cool-girl" party frocks that models took outside of the showspace for a vibey street party.

Some trends particularly stood out to me as frontrunners for next season, so keep reading to see which MFW A/W 25 trends I predict will be big news.

"Mob Wife" Coats

Style Notes: Whichever manufacturer is supplying Milanese fashion houses with faux fur and shearling is heading for a very profitable A/W 25, by the looks of things. Faux fur was everywhere and on everything, from trimmed hemlines through to full-blown floor-sweeping coats, the latter of which seemed to reflect last year's TikTok trend for the "mob wife" aesthetic. These coats are nothing short of dramatic and entrance-making, and they were at almost every key designer brand from Fendi (which supplied numerous options as part of their 100th-anniversary celebrations) through to Ferragamo. Chicest in brown tones, I expect this trend to be one of next season's biggest.

Fringing

Style Notes: The trend for fringing started in London and continued with force during MFW. From ultra-swishy options rendered in long leather strands to fine beaded options or the subtlest tufted edging on knitwear, this trend comes in many guises, from minimalist to maximalist and understead to bohemian—meaning that brands with wildly different aesthetics (think Jil Sander vs. Etro) all agree—this is the detail to adopt.

Plum

Style Notes: Picking up where burgundy has left off, we've already seen plum shades coming to the fore on social media. Now, the colour trend has progressed from our feeds to the runways. A notable commitment at Max Mara, the show opened with a series of monochromatic plum looks instead of the brand's signature camel. Plum also popped up in other corners as an accent, as well as a main character.

Kick Hems

Style Notes: Skirts have been having a good run of late—2024 felt like the year of the skirt after a long period of tailored trousers ruling supreme. The focus on this silhouette has now translated into skirts and dresses with statement hemlines; the kind that swish, kick and bounce their way through life with godets, trims and extra fabric to make a point. It's like the clothing version of a sashay, and I couldn't help but fall in love with this niche but effective addition to many a collection, from Marni's sweeping midis to Amelia Gray wearing the hell out of a Roberto Cavalli peplum-hemmed LBD.

Brown Leather

Style Notes: Brown leather—particularly when finished with an aged or distressed look—was a constant fixture across the runways and presentations at MFW. It was Prada's worn-in, ruched skirt that lured me in first, but you'll find a commitment to brown leather across the gamut, from outerwear to leather goods like handbags, belts and shoes.

Knits on Knits

Style Notes: Comfort and elegance were best achieved through Milano's lineup of two and three-piece knitted sets. Often in ribbed finishes and autumnal hues, this felt like an ultra-luxe way to do cold-weather dressing, staying cosy without giving into the now-ubiquitous puffer coat. From Gucci's fluffy polo, which was styled with a slouchy cardigan, to Tod's marled and layered looks, this comes in many iterations from retro to preppy, bold to quiet.

Chartreuse

Style Notes: Should we blame Charli XCX for an influx of fashion's most affronting colour? Chartreuse and acid greens were surprisingly present for an A/W 25 season, providing an off-kilter base colour that many brands paired with brown or black to make it winter-appropriate. In Gucci's case, more was more, combining the electric hue with punchy purple.

Take for example this cream fringe coat, a particularly show-stopping piece in the order that I made and tried on at home this week. I wore it to work the following day and I cannot tell you how many compliments I received. Actually I can, it was 6. From complete strangers, no less! Whenever I told them that it was from Mango, not a more luxury brand like Toteme, the only reaction I receive was pure surprise. And whilst £230 is no small change, it's items like this, that are timeless in their colour and silhouette, but with added details like its detachable scarf and fringe hem, that make it feel special, and frankly, more expensive.

But this coat isn't the only item I loved. Fortunately for my wardrobe (and perhaps unfortunately for my bank balance), there were multiple items I decided to keep. Here are the 3 very chic, very stylish looks I loved most.

Style notes: Obviously this fringe coat is the pièce de résistance here. Part of Mango's Western edit, where cow print leather, fringe jackets and denim feature, unsurprisingly, quite heavily. Once you have got the hang of how to style the scarf (I think it's easiest to detach it from the coat and just throw it over one shoulder, personally), this coat looks phenomenal. It's a very bright cream, so really should probably be kept for more occasional than everyday wear, unless you're very good at keeping things clean, or have an excellent dry cleaner on speed dial. It's also not lined, so there's room for cosy knits to be styled below without making you feel too hot.

Also worth mentioning is this drop-waist dress below. ICYMI: be it with denim, dresses or cargo pants, waistlines are getting increasingly lower, and although I didn't love these the first time round in the early 2000s, now I'm quite open to them. This dress in particularly tackles it quite well. With the cotton bottom and stretchy knit on the top half, it's super comfortable. What's more, it's easily styled multiple ways. Whilst I have it with boots and have added a belt here for a smart-casual vibe, I think it would work really well with mules, slicked back hair and heavier makeup for a more evening look. Very good, Mango—I'm impressed.

Style Notes: Let's start with these shoes. As a fashion editor, I try on lots (and lots) of new pieces of clothing, shoes and accessories for work, and these mules are probably my favourite item I've tried on this year. Cow print is a huge hit trend this season, seen across bags, jackets and belts, but this iteration is transcendent to any other example I've seen so far. Whilst I try to avoid trends that can feel fleeting, there's something about this style and silhouette—the square toe and the glossy black heel—that makes them look so expensive. They're also just fun, and it's not easy for pieces to feel joyous without also being a bit novelty.

Another stand-out item from this outfit is the knit draped on my shoulder. Although cashmere can last up to a decade, I invest in a new piece every year or two. I think it's an invaluable purchase, nothing else feels quite like it. And, despite being someone more attracted to neutrals, I knew this autumn I'd be buying into the red trend. I can't get enough of it. Be it red shoes, my nails or in this case, a sweater, this cherry shade makes me feel so energised. I particularly love it with denim, and these mid-wash blue jeans, with the eyelets and straight cut are the perfect pair.

Style Notes: A decent leather jacket is an essential for any capsule wardrobe. So is a trench coat. A leather trench coat, however, feels somewhat more special than an 'essential,' and rather an investment piece. Admittedly, being £400, this particular one does have that investment piece price tag, which feels expensive for a high street brand. But I was interested to see how it compared to leather pieces I'd tried in the past from designer luxury brands, as well as other more wallet-friendly options. I have to say, the website's imagery almost doesn't do this coat justice. The leather is deliciously soft, the cut hugs at the waist just enough, and it finishes at the exact right point on your calf. What's more, it seems to go with anything and everything, elevating a fairly casual look into something quite evening-appropriate. It fulfils a tricky but significant equation for me, which is to balance both classic and cool. Not many items of clothing achieve this, but it does guarantee a multitude of wears. So, though £400 may sound a little expensive, it's a good match for many coats just like it that fetch 5 times that!

When it came to styling this coat, I wanted to put my own claim of suggesting it could lift a casual look into an evening one to the test, so I decided to style this with items that would typically be considered for daytime wear.

As the Y2K trend appears to be going nowhere any time soon, I've really tried to embrace it ways that don't make me feel like I'm in costume as my 12-year old self. Whilst I may not be wearing a tiered rah-rah skirt or putting butterfly clips in my hair any time soon, I have started to wear low-rise trousers and will often carry a petite shoulder bag that feels very 2002. These cargo pants, with their eyelet stud details, allude the exact right amount to the styles I loved twenty years ago, without making me feel silly. Even though I'm wearing a white tank top and these trousers, with a pointed kitten heel (again, very 2002) and this really fabulous trench coat, I can safely say this is a look I'd love to wear on a Friday night out. I would say that's mission accomplished, no?!

With the advent of autumn, I have again come to my annual realisation that I have nothing to wear. I thrive during the summer in light cotton dresses, but it's the autumn/winter season that I find the hardest to dress for. Now, I might be overreacting a little, as I definitely have enough to get me through the next few months, but when it's dark outside and I'm staring into my wardrobe with a background of drizzle and a cold breeze, I always get the urge to treat myself to some cosy knitwear, a new coat and a pair of sleek boots.

Although I'm largely content with what I own, there are a couple of gaps I can justify filling with a couple of key wardrobe staples; pieces I've probably over-worn now and are due a refresh. I managed to tick a few of these off with secondhand buys, and now it's time to take to the high street to get me over the finish line. Overwhelmed with options, I headed straight towards a reliable old favourite, walking right into Marks and Spencer. Having worn the brand's tights for school and bought my bras from there ever since my first fitting, M&S is still my first port of call when I'm looking to make a purchase. I find its collections almost always include the refined silhouettes I shop for most frequently—and often at very reasonable prices—and it's still nailing those fundamentals all these years later.

On the shop floor, I plucked a few key items that instantly caught my attention. Selecting a warm knit, a roomy coat, the perfect '90s-style leather jacket and a leopard-print blouse, I also grabbed some wearable denim, trending shoes and a couple of bags I couldn't resist giving a closer look. To the changing room! Size-wise, I tend to sit between a 10 and a 12, often opting for the former for my bottom half and the latter for tops and jackets. At 5'7", I like a bit of roomy fit, and my clothing choices attest to this. Keep scrolling to see the M&S autumn 2024 pieces I tried on, and read my honest thoughts on each.

Style Notes: I have to confess that I'm a bit of a sceptic when it comes to faux leather. Perhaps because I spent so much of my teens in head-to-toe polyester, I'm now very reluctant to buy any "leather" item that isn't 100% genuine. As such, I was incredibly surprised to find myself falling in love with this faux-leather jacket. In a rich brown shade that falls somewhere between camel and chocolate, this slim-fitting jacket has a boxy cut and a neat finish that reminded me of the '90s-inspired styles I always look out for.

Cropping slightly above the hips, this jacket features a zip fastening and an elasticated hem that ensures a polished silhouette and some extra insulation. Wanting a comfortable, slightly oversized fit, I reached for a size 14, which was fitted enough not to appear too big, but large enough to wear over a knit—exactly the kind of layer I need for these in-between days. Suffice it to say, this sub-£60 jacket went straight onto my purchase pile.

With a slim fit up top, I wanted a little bit of volume on the bottom and tried on M&S' Wide Palazzo Leg Jeans and a pair of chunky Chelsea boots to ground my outfit. The jeans fit comfortably in a regular-length size 10. The great thing about M&S jeans is that they're available in short, regular and long lengths so you can get a much better fit.

Style Notes: As someone with broad shoulders, I often find a V-neck more flattering than a crew neck. Following that same formula, I generally gravitate more towards cardigans than jumpers, as I can wear it buttoned up all the way, or break up the shape by leaving the top button undone. Ever in need of more knitwear—I can imagine that everyone in the UK feels this way right now—I was keen to discover M&S' latest offering. After a loop around the store, I came straight back to the first style that caught my eye: this pretty argyle cardigan.

In a light yellow shade with grey and blue accents, this cosy layer spoke to the softer, brighter side of autumn/winter dressing. Adorned with gleaming gold buttons, the cardigan looks well beyond its £35 price tag, and the wool composition adds a snug touch. I tried it on with and without a layer underneath and found it was soft enough to wear without a base. I selected this cardigan in a size 12, which was perfectly roomy and very comfortable. I kept the rest of my outfit fairly neutral so as not to detract from the cardigan's colour and print, opting for jeans in a sculptural horseshoe cut and a pair of burgundy ballet flats.

I couldn't resist grabbing this expensive-looking suede bag to try with the outfit, and I found it paired perfectly with the cosy knit, earning it a place on my wish list.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Style Notes: I'm a firm believer that if you fall in love with a winter coat, you simply have to buy it. From November to April, a full-length coat is practically your entire outfit and thus needs to really encapsulate your style. Having spotted just the kind of coat I could easily see sitting in my wardrobe, this checked style made its way to the changing rooms with me. Initially struck by the grown-up print, I found the checked motif interesting but not too attention-grabbing—making it feel versatile and easy to style with a broad range of looks.

I'm entirely obsessed with trench coats, so I tend to shop for wool coats in a similar silhouette, and this delivered exactly the finish I was after. Wanting to ground the look with a chunky shoe, I reached for a pair of brown leather Chelsea boots and styled the coat with a simple tee and relaxed blue jeans, but it would also look great worn with tailored trousers or a black slip dress. The coat hit my mid-calf, which is a nice length on me, so if you're any shorter it might require hemming.

Style notes: Somehow, I seem to have evaded the leopard-print trend so far this season, but I was finally taken in this week by M&S' pretty leopard blouse. Looking for something I could weave into my daily wardrobe, this fun top stood out. With hook fastenings tracing down the centre, concealed by subtle bow detailing, the blouse—which I picked up in a 12—was easy to get on and off and could be worn fully buttoned or partially open.

I loved the puff-sleeve detailing and found this helped elevate the silhouette, whilst giving the design a playful edge. This is the kind of blouse that could be worked into so many looks, so I defaulted to a simple silhouette, styling it with classic blue jeans, red ballet flats and a studded bag. Ideal for milder autumn days, this lightweight blouse would sit well underneath a leather jacket or a black wool coat, but equally holds its own when worn by itself. I loved it with dark-wash, flared jeans and found it paired perfectly with the pop of red that the ballet flats offered.

Having noticed a few such spaces in my rotation with the switch from summer to autumn, I've been meaning to invigorate my wardrobe with the odd seasonal upgrade. Having chatted with Who What Wear UK's editor-in-chief Hannah Almassi, who just got back from Paris Fashion Week, I'm newly inspired to welcome in some of the autumn capsule staples she spotted over and again in the French capital.

"Whilst the outfits of those attending shows are always worth taking note of, it was those of Parisians—the stylish people who live in the capital year-round—that I found inspiring," says Almassi. "In the four or so days I spent there, I kept seeing the same pieces crop up. If it's a thing in Paris, then it's definitely a thing worth knowing about."

Style Notes: This lightweight alternative to a traditional trench coat was all over the streets of Paris at the weekend. Style Notes: Double denim has had a makeover this season, and it's now entirely rid of its "outdated" connotations. Embraced by the French—who have always had a penchant for a great denim garment—people are reaching for coordinating sets of neatly fitting jackets and relaxed baggy jeans, but the trend also looks chic in the form of denim button-downs paired with straight-leg jeans, too.

Style Notes: It's officially boots season, and Paris' most stylish are celebrating with autumn's favourite boots trend. Swapping their Chelsea boots for grungy moto styles, the noughties trend is dominating fashion circles in the French capital.

As much as I've tried to hold on to that summer feeling, as October rolls in, I'm finally succumbing to autumn. The new season is here, and my linen pieces just won't cut it anymore, so it's time to face the fact that the cooler days have settled in for the foreseeable future. I've always held summer close as my favourite season, embracing the ease of dressing and warm sunshine until the very last moment, but I have to admit that the stellar offerings of the autumn/winter 2024 collections have me seriously reconsidering.

Whether high-end or high street, brands have gone all out for the new season. Coats are some of the best they've ever been, knitwear feels even more cosy and stylish and the footwear on offer is destined to feature in our wardrobes for many years. Colder temperatures, punctuated by quick blasts of sunshine and sudden rain, will soon be keeping us on our toes, but one thing is for sure: no matter the weather, there's a chance to look incredibly stylish this season. The brand has tapped into some of the coolest rising trends for the new season, but looking ahead, I'm firmly focused on timeless buys, and H&M has definitely come through.

A classic coat that will see me through the cooler months, a cosy knit for layering up as the chill settles in, a standout dress that needs minimal styling and a "nice top" to pair with not only my jeans but tailoring and skirts too—the key finds from my shopping trip cover every eventuality. Style Notes: When searching for new additions to my autumn wardrobe, I knew I had to start with a trench coat. Lightweight, ready to take on the swift changes in weather and easy to layer up when cooler moments set in, there's a reason why this coat is a classic. Whilst camel shades are most synonymous with the style, the trench is such a day-to-night hero that I was looking for a versatile black iteration, and H&M came through.

Made from a soft twill fabric, H&M taps into the classic nature of the style with a double-breasted silhouette, easy tie belt and longline silhouette. A great trench coat is one of those few pieces able to support just about any look, be it a sleek work outfit or layered over an elegant dress for the evening. When styling for my try-on, I went simple to tie in with my style, putting it over a simple top, straight-leg jeans and some striking buckle boots to ground the look.

I took my normal size small in the trench, which still had room for a cosy knit underneath. The best-selling Slim Straight High Ankle Jeans fit perfectly in a size 10 and, I took the boots in my usual size.

Style Notes: If anything had me excited for autumn this year, it was the predicted return of boho styles thanks to Chloé's revival of the aesthetic on in its A/W 24 collection. As hoped, flowing blouses and dresses in light, sheer fabrics have returned in a big way for the new season, and H&M has been serving up stunning boho dresses since August.

Featuring a very autumnal deep burgundy shade, long ties to add to the fluidity of the piece and subtle stud detailing for an extra touch of intricacy, this romantic H&M dress ticks all the boxes. The top section is slightly sheer whilst the double-lined skirt offers more opacity. I tried my regular size small. The dress is certainly striking, so I stuck to understated accessories to complete the look. First, I turned to a pair of reliable ankle boots with a thick heel, which fit true to size. With a smooth leather look and pointed-toe finish, I know these sleek boots will complete all kinds of outfits, including jeans, tailoring and skirts. Finally, I reached for this super-expensive-looking bag which is practical in size yet impossibly chic in design.

Style Notes: When it comes to autumn dressing, knitwear is of course a key category, and H&M is offering up some seriously elegant (and warm) options. I was drawn in by a bold green jumper and a contemporary wrap cardigan, but as a minimalist, I settled on a soft cream style with thin black stripes and a cosy turtleneck.

Stripes are one of the only patterns that brings an element of design detail without completely stealing the show, making them truly timeless in appeal. What I love most about this jumper is the thin dimensions that feel even more considered and interesting than thicker stripes. Style Notes: We all know the reliability of a jeans-and-a-nice-top combination, but finding the "nice top" can be harder than you'd think. Lucky for us, H&M has an array of nicer-than-nice styles, tapping into that boho aesthetic that now revived, is destined to stick around for a long time. Whilst the silhouette of the top is such a standout, the black shade offers ease of styling alongside the romantic sheer detailing. The high neckline brings elegance with ruffled front details, flowing sleeves and a tie back that can be draped behind or to the front as you wish. Think drinks or a fancy dinner—this is the kind of easy yet striking top you'll want to reach for.

To dress it up for evening, I turned to the Wide Jeans, a best-selling pair for H&M. The style comes in a range of washes, but the true blue shade feels most wearable in my wardrobe, whether styled for evening or night. To elevate the look further, I chose the boots I wore above, with a pointed toe that can peek out in a very chic way from the wide hems. For the jeans, I took my usual size 10, and once again the boots fit true to size.

My Review: I've been looking for a coat that could rival the coveted Toteme scarf coat. Enter Arket's Fringe Scarf Jacket in black. Whilst it doesn't have Toteme's bold contrast stitching, there's something irresistible about this all-black version. The fringed scarf detail gives it a more subtle statement that still feels incredibly luxurious—perfect for my minimalist aesthetic. I love how this jacket feels both structured and effortless. It drapes beautifully thanks to the fringed scarf design, but it's also polished enough to wear over both casual and dressier looks. The search for a coat that balances practicality and elegance is always tricky, but this piece has become my new obsession (yes, I bought it). I've been reaching for it every day, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

To complete the look, I paired it with the editor-loved Alpaca Wool-Blend Jumper in a gorgeous moss green. I love how the hue brings a bit of warmth to the outfit without feeling overpowering. My Review: If there's one thing my wardrobe can never have too many of, it's a great knit. So when I spotted this Chunky Cashmere Wool Jumper, I knew it had to be mine. I live in neutral knits during autumn and winter, and this grey one is perfect; it's substantial, warm and feels luxurious. What really sold me though is the oversized silhouette. It's that rare blend of slouchy yet refined, making it easy to wear on casual days but elevated enough to style for more polished looks. I also appreciate this jumper's versatility. My Review: Shawls are one of those understated accessories that can transform an outfit, and this Wool-Blend Triangle Scarf is no exception. I've always loved the versatility of a good scarf, and this one caught my eye because of its geometric shape. There's something about a triangle scarf that feels more intentional and structured than your standard rectangular one, and this grey version feels modern and elegant.

What drew me to this scarf is how effortlessly it could elevate my outerwear collection. I could wear it draped over my shoulders or wrapped around my neck for warmth, but it’s not so bulky that it would dominate the rest of my outfit. It's no secret to anyone who knows me that autumn is my favourite season. From those crisp morning walks to cosy evenings in with a hot chocolate, I love the cold-weather seasons. As someone who doesn't do well in the warmer weather and just overall finds it much easier to dress when the temperature drops, I had been counting down the days until my favourite high-street stores started to stock those new autumnal pieces. So, with it getting much chillier here in the UK and rainy days that seem like they're here to stay, the time has finally come.

In the summer, I tend to stick to very basic items that you can't go wrong with. Think plain white vest tops and classic black poplin skirts with simple strap sandals. However, when autumn comes around, I tend to branch out just a bit with items that are still classic enough to stay in my outfit rotations for years to come but also add a little more interest to a minimalist wardrobe. Therefore, I knew that I'd have to take a trip into the store to narrow down the items I wanted to add to my wardrobe this season.

For autumn 2024, I was looking for three things in particular. First up was non-black outerwear. As someone with what seems like a million black coats in my wardrobe, I was looking for a different shade that could be just as versatile as black to wear with both my neutral and statement items. Next up was knitwear. I've acquired many jumpers and cardigans over the years, but this year I was specifically looking for expensive-looking knitwear at a mid-price point to invest in for the years to come. Finally, I knew I needed to find a new pair of jeans that I could wear for any occasion. Denim is something I struggle with on the high street due to inconsistent sizing, so I was eager to try them on in person as opposed to the constant cycle I usually find myself in of buying online and returning.

I was happy that upon entering the store, there were items in these categories that immediately interested me, so I rounded them up and took them to the changing rooms to try on. I also managed to pull some shoes and accessories with each look to check the wearability of each item. Overall, I was really happy with the pieces I tried on, so if you're looking for chic items that are the perfect mix of trendy and timelessness, I would definitely recommend visiting your local & Other Stories store to browse the new-in section.

My Review: The first thing on my agenda was to find a chic jacket I could wear now and then layer up as we move into the chillier months. A cropped trench is a style I never in a million years thought I'd pick up (I'm all about a classic long trench coat for autumn), but something about this particular silhouette called to me, and when I tried it on, it did not disappoint. Available in camel, black and khaki, I knew that all three colours would fit seamlessly into my wardrobe, but due to the endless number of black and brown coats I already own, I decided to try on the classic camel shade as a way to brighten up my autumn outfits. Made from 100% cotton, this breathable jacket felt lightweight enough to wear during this transitional period but is also boxy enough to be layered over a chunky knit when the temperature drops (for reference, I tried on a small and it was the perfect fit over a thick knitted jumper). I also loved that it has a storm flap at the front and back of the jacket, making it ideal for those windy, rainy days.

Toteme's iconic scarf coat has sparked plenty of lookalikes all over the high street. I've bought a number of different high-street scarf jackets to emulate the look, but this chic scarf-detail wool jumper is a style I never considered before trying it on, but it's now sitting in my online basket. The & Other Stories website states that it comes in beige, but in person, I would say this looks way more like a dusky-pink shade. At £125, this is by no means a cheap jumper, but the material feels extremely thick and way more expensive than it is. I opted for an XS.

I paired the jacket and knit with an & Other Stories best seller: the A-Line Mini Skirt, which is restocked every year. I picked this up in a UK 8 and would say it fits true to size. At 5'4", I would say that this comes up very short (usually, I would throw on a pair of tights with a mini this small), however, it wasn't so short that I felt out of my comfort zone, which I think says a lot for someone who lives in midi and maxi skirts. I especially loved how this mini style looked with the square-toe, knee-high boots, which were genuinely so comfortable and looked super sleek with the outfit.

My Review: I initially tried on the brand's Straight Jeans, but as mentioned, denim is one item I find difficult in terms of size and fit. Because I have a small waist and bigger thighs, something about the straight-leg fit wasn't looking quite right on me (I tried on three different sizes before giving up!). I had another search around and found the Wide Baggy Jeans, which I absolutely loved. A perfect blend of casual denim with the tailored trousers I live in year-round, these mid-waist, pleated trousers are a versatile style that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. I tried on a size 36 (UK 8) and I loved the slouchier fit of this style. The denim was soft and didn't feel rough against the skin like a lot of high-street denim does to me.

Arguably the cosiest knit I've ever tried on, & Other Stories' Mohair-Blend Jumper immediately caught my eye when I entered the store. This fluffy knit is available in six beautiful colours, but for autumn 2024, I'm all about burgundy. I'm clearly not the only one, as this colour is currently sold out online, but I think the black (linked below) will work just as well with the outfit I tried on. The first thing I noted is that this is totally an item I'll be waiting for the winter months to wear because it's extremely warm, which I'll be grateful for when it gets really cold. I should also mention that it sheds. A lot. I went home with many a red hair over my jeans and bag. However, this is hopefully something that will stop after a trip to the dry cleaner (this particular style is not machine-washable). This didn't discourage me though, as I love the shape and fit of the jumper.

I finished off the look with a studded bag and chunky loafers, which really pulled it all together.

My Review: Outerwear was definitely on my mind when I went into the store, and after hearing rave reviews from Who What Wear UK editors as well as friends and family, I knew I couldn't leave without trying on the brand's famous wool coat, and it lived up to the hype. There were multiple shades in-store, but I went for the cool khaki to add a point of difference to the outfit. It does look grey on camera, but I promise you this is a dark green shade in real life that looks great with the monochrome outfit I styled it with. I tried on a Size XS and was glad I did as the coat was very oversized. This, however, makes it perfect for layering on those really cold winter days. I love that you could wear it tied with the belt or without as a straight style depending on the look you're going for. You can tell this coat is made from 100% wool—it was so warm and cosy and definitely one you'll come to rely on over the next few months.

I threw the coat over a pair of tailored, straight-leg trousers and an asymmetric wrap shirt. I have so many white shirts in my wardrobe so I was happy to find this elevated take on the classic style. It's more of a grown-up top than I would usually opt for, but I felt super elegant and can't wait to see how it styles with jeans to dress them up for evening events. These items, paired with the kitten-heel boots, come together for an outfit you could easily wear into the office and then on to evening drinks with friends.

My Review: For me, the key to an expensive-looking autumn outfit is all in the knitwear. I already own several long-sleeve knits, so this short-sleeve wool-cashmere blend immediately caught my eye. Available in both cream and beige (pictured above), this sleek knit is cut in a relaxed silhouette. I opted for a size S which gave me the boxy fit I was looking for—perfect for wearing untucked over a wool maxi or front-tucked over a pair of tailored trousers like I have here. The knit felt warm, so despite the short sleeves, you could wear this even on colder days, and the material is extremely soft, which surprised me, as it initially looked quite stiff on the hanger. The only downside is the sizing. I wear a UK 6/8 on top and opted for the size S, and with the largest size being an L, I'm sceptical about how many bodies it could fit. I would also note that this T-shirt is handwash-only—something to be aware of if you're someone who prefers to throw your clothes in the machine and go.

I paired the knit tee with & Other Stories' best-selling Wide Press-Crease Trousers, and I was pleasantly surprised with the fit because as someone with a smaller waist and larger thighs, I usually find shopping for trousers rather difficult. A UK 8 usually fits perfectly on my waist but is too tight around my thighs, whilst a 10 fits me great on the legs but is too loose around the waist. I liked that this pair weren't super high-rise, allowing me to fit perfectly into a 36 (UK 8). Available in eight versatile shades, these are trousers that I can easily dress up or down, whether it be for the office, casual days out or dinner dates.

For accessories, I opted for a pair of brown satin ballet flats (a huge trend for autumn 2024) and a sleek glossy bag.

The start of any season can be overwhelming; just when you get into the swing of dressing for a particular climate and forecast, almost overnight, you have to re-evaluate what works and what doesn't when the new season decides to begin, basically without warning. And right now, I'm going through this process with autumn. I love autumn, always have—it's the time of year I feel most myself. A homebody through and through, I love nothing more than creating a cosy space to relax in, save perhaps taking a stroll around my neighbourhood (preferably with a hot chocolate in hand) and hearing the leaves crunch underfoot.

However, this autumn is different as I feel very unprepared for it. Why? Because I genuinely don't have much in the way of an autumn wardrobe any more. It's been years since I properly stocked up on knitwear, boots and coats, to the point where, when I took what I did have down from the loft where it's been hiding since April, I was struck at how little there was. My knitwear has seen much better days, and my coats… well, they're looking a bit tired, too. In terms of boots, my more practical pairs are still as solid as ever, but the pointed-toe style I snapped up from Arket four years ago hasn't aged quite as well, the once-sharp point now a blunt stub.

That's it, I thought—I'll nurse what I can, but I can't put off making a few key autumnal investments any longer. I'll have to go shopping, by which I mean in-real-life shopping, not online for a change. And for my first port of call? It was always going to be COS. I enjoy shopping at COS; no less because the shop floor is so well merchandised. Unlike many other stores, which can spike my cortisol with their disorganisation and messiness, COS is one of the rare bricks-and-mortar shops that boasts an air of calm. The rails are never too cluttered—I like being able to see everything clearly—and everything has its place. Bags are neatly lined up and positioned in designated accessory areas, whilst shoes are placed in pairs (pairs!) directly below the pieces they actually go with. This, dear readers, is how shopping should be (at least in the eyes of this time-poor millennial).

Beyond this, it should go without saying that I also enjoy shopping at COS because I like the stock. The brand is rare in that it doesn't blindly follow trends. Sure, it'll adopt certain things, such as a core colour or a timely silhouette and make it its own, but that's what makes it so appealing—the COS take. I asked my colleagues how they'd describe COS, and the words that kept cropping up were "timeless", "classic" and "anti-trend"; all words and turns of phrase I certainly wouldn't mind being attributed with! Handily, this is precisely how I'd describe COS' autumn 2024 collection, too; very refined—minimal, without being austere or cold—with pieces that blend seamlessly together. Here's what I mean by that.

Upon entering the store, a few items immediately caught my eye, so I gathered them up and headed straight to the changing room. I didn't have to think about styling or what would work best together—it all just did. Skirts paired elegantly with tops, and the tops then worked with the jeans. Jeans were switched out for tailored trousers and, still, everything looked harmonious together. COS really does make putting together a capsule wardrobe very easy, but that is also the dangerous part—hand on heart, everything I ended up trying I would have gladly (very gladly) taken home with me.

In fact, there were two pieces I couldn't leave the store without purchasing. What were they, I hear you ask? I'll tell you, so long as you don't mind me sharing the other buys I also loved and felt did my 5'3", hourglass, true-size-12 figure justice.

My Review: One thing I've never invested a lot of money into is knitwear. Yes, I own knitwear, and in my line of work, I have been gifted knitwear in the past, but it's never been a category that I've spent a lot on. And, looking at my current collection of jumpers and cardigans, I think this would be apparent. All pretty misshapen despite the fact I've washed them per instructions and with unsightly bobbling even my finest-toothed wool brush can't remove, they're all a bit tatty. Whilst I won't be getting rid of them—I can wear them around the house, after all!—I would like a knit that's a little more put-together and expensive-looking. This COS style caught my eye the moment I crossed the store's threshold.

Available in classic black, sleek grey and this—the perfect shade of olive green—even on the hanger, I could tell it would look beautiful. At the risk of sounding arrogant, it did. I picked up a medium which fit just how I wanted it to (roomy). Incredibly soft to the touch—that'll be the cashmere—but with a neat purl that gives it a luxury-feeling weight, this draped elegantly on the body. I could have sized down to a small, but for the purpose of trying on as many pieces as I could, I stuck with the medium.

Pairing it with COS' best-selling tapered jeans, I loved the combination of green and off-white. Here, I'm wearing the jeans in a size 32—the brand's biggest. I could have sized down to a 31, perhaps even a 30, but neither was available in-store that day. I ended up buying the 32 as I liked the slouched look they gave. I've had to take in the waistline to make it fit (my waist is the smallest part of my frame) but around the hips, it's not far off a perfect fit. As much as I liked the comfort of this style, I am disappointed that this is as far as the brand has gone with the upper end of its sizing. Like I said, I'm a pretty true size 12—sometimes a 14 in trousers that have a straight cut—so there is major room to expand its sizing here.

Accessory-wise, I grabbed a pair of ankle boots with a curved heel (stock is currently running low online but I've been assured more units are coming) and the brand's iconic leather Swing bag. This was all I needed to pull together what I think makes the perfect elevated everyday look.

My Review: I own Toteme's Embroidered Scarf Jacket. I love Toteme's Embroidered Scarf Jacket. That said, this coat gives it a run for its money. Whilst the two can't really be compared—the Toteme style is shorter, has a completely different silhouette and is made from a much coarser wool—comparisons will be drawn because of the scarf detail. This is inevitable.

Positioned very near the shop front, COS knows this coat will be a draw for customers. Available in an all-black colourway, which I have to say, looks especially sleek, I was drawn to the contrast trim of the beige and black iteration. I'll get to the primary fabric in a moment but first, let's take a magnifying glass to the trim. It's made from a buttery-soft leather, and when I analysed how it was fixed to the coat, I found the stitching to be completely flawless—there's zero bulk protruding from under the soft wool, meaning the finish is seamless too. So far so good.

For £300, some may scoff at the fact that this coat is unlined, but then neither is the Toteme. Again, they're very different outerwear options but I do think it's interesting that neither of these coats have a lining, especially when many of COS' other coats—some priced less than this style—do. Remembering what I can from when I studied fashion design at university, often, a designer will opt not to use a lining when they want a garment to be more fluid and flexible, something I'd absolutely want for a scarf coat, so that could be part of the decision behind this. Another? Heat. This coat is certainly roomy enough to wear over even the chunkiest of knitwear (I tried on both the small and medium and didn't find much difference in the way of sizing). A lining makes a garment warmer to wear, so it might be that the designer and brand envisioned its customer using this as a cocoon as opposed to an insulator. It's also worth noting the scarf is detachable, which you could argue makes the coat more versatile than others on the market.

Now, for the main material. This is perhaps the softest coat I've ever worn. It's 60% wool and 40% Tencel Lyocell—a fibre known for being very soft. Because of this, I would be worried of snagging it on something, but ultimately, there's no use in keeping pieces like this for "best". Beautiful coats deserve to be worn and seen by all.

My Review: People who know me personally will probably be surprised when they see this story, mainly because I'm usually wearing dresses and skirts. I've come to love wearing trousers over the past few years, but as it's an item I've only recently felt more comfortable in; I really don't have that many pairs in my wardrobe. Admittedly, upon entering the COS store I was nervous—there was a distinct lack of skirts and dresses on the shop floor, and being petite, I was worried the length of the trousers would swallow me up (more on that later). However, as I made my way around the store, I came across this co-ord. Intuitively, I picked up a medium in the skirt and a small in the vest (they were out of mediums, at least on the shop floor) and made my way to the changing room.

Crafted from boiled wool, this set is designed to be warm but also to last—boiled wool requires much less maintenance and care than other wool finishes, making it able to withstand wear after wear without looking tired. I thought I'd see how it would look with a blue tailored button-down I already had hanging in the changing room. Employing a French tuck to the front of the outfit, I have to say, I loved this look from the moment I glanced up in the mirror. The skirt, perhaps slightly big, skimmed my frame in a way I thought looked very elegant. As with the drape of the cashmere knit I tried on, I really liked how the top hung from my body, too, with just the right amount of structure. With knee-high boots and a chic tote bag, this is exactly the sort of outfit I'd wear to the office when I have plans after work, a meeting or a moment I want to feel confident in. More impressed by the co-ord than I thought I'd be, I decided to see how it would look worn on its own for an evening look, and it made me fall in love with it all the more. Versatile and chic? This skirt set gets two thumbs up from me.

My Review: You could argue that every store or brand has its thing—the item or trend it does better than the rest. For COS, I truly believe that item is jackets. I already own a COS blazer that always prompts compliments, and I also have a cropped, cream, boiled-wool jacket that I wear religiously each autumn and spring. However, looking at the other jackets in my collection, I realised I didn't own a cosier style in a neutral shade. By this I mean a versatile beige, tan or brown (this is 2024, so brown should definitely be a consideration). So, when I saw this boxy wool jacket hanging in pride of place near the checkout, I knew I'd be tempted to invest in it.

Again, I grabbed a small and a medium and didn't really notice much difference in the sizing. Thinking I might want to wear it with a jumper underneath at some point, I defaulted to the medium and quickly made my way back to the sanctity of my changing room, which, by this point, I'd commandeered for over an hour—the staff in the Edinburgh store are very patient. Grabbing a red top I passed en route, I thought this would make a chic autumn colour combination. I was right.

Styling it with what would prove to be my new favourite jeans, I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I loved this look. The colour of this jacket sits somewhere between camel and chocolate, making it the perfect hue for pairing with just about any other. The red, however, really did make it pop. Although boxy, the shape is fluid and again, the wool/Tencel Lyocell mix makes it incredibly soft. Spoiler alert: This was the other item that came home with me.

Having seen the Quilted Micro Bag online and knowing how popular it has been with Who What Wear UK readers, I tried it with the outfit. I thought it might look too casual, but it actually gave everything I paired it with a cool finish. Now, I fully get the hype.

My Review: Apparently, I have knitwear on the brain! I've always had a soft spot for cable knits; the intertwining weave that's become so synonymous with British style, but up until this point I've only ever owned super-thick styles, always in cream. Okay, so this one is beige, but COS has just released it in a reddish-brown and bright green, and it boasts a semi-transparent finish, making it as directional and fashionable a cable knit as I've ever seen! It was soft too; it looked like the sort of wool that can be itchy on the skin, but it wasn't whatsoever. I always make sure to try woollen knits on bare skin to rule out any risk of irritation, and this one passed with flying colours.

On the subject of colours, this burgundy bag is definitely worth bookmarking. As one of 2024's biggest and most elegant-looking shades, burgundy and oxblood items—especially bags—are selling out all over high-street and designer circuits. The Cavatelli Clutch has had a miraculous restock online, but in the flesh, you can fully appreciate how special it is. It's slightly glossed but not patent or coated, giving it a designer-looking feel, which the size encourages; the oversized, cuddly shape is not one you see on the high street very often, and I don't imagine it'll hang around for long for that reason, either.

Now, for the trousers. Keen to wear something other than the cream, tapered jeans that have become something of a key player in this try-on, I grabbed this pair of taupe, tailored trousers, not thinking much about how they'd look on—the bag and knit were my main considerations here. That said, I loved how these fit! Wearing a 30 waist, the balloon shape skimmed over my shapely thighs in a way that I never usually experience when I wear trousers. The length is described as cropped, but for this 5'3" editor, it was perfect. They didn't make it home with me, but I am tempted to go back for the handy black pair, which I wore for my last look below.

My Review: If you're going to accuse me of having an obsession with scarf coats and jackets, then you'd be right—I do have an obsession with scarf coats and jackets! So much so, I've been monitoring the comings and goings of all the new styles hitting the market this year (trust me when I say there have been lots), and this, COS' sleek tasselled iteration, is up there with the best of them. I first saw this jacket land online in a cream colourway, which sold out in a matter of days. Although I was very tempted, I knew it probably wouldn't be the wisest purchase for someone prone to spilling things down themselves. This is why I was delighted to see that the brand has now launched its scarf jacket in two new colourways: black and a grey pinstripe, both of which are the epitome of elegance—the fringed trim on the scarf gives movement in a very refined way.

I hoped the store would have it in stock, which it did in the black. Impossibly soft, just like the other jackets and coats I tried on, it feels much more luxurious than its price tag. £200 isn't cheap, but again, when other styles around right now are four times this much, I think this is priced pretty reasonably for the quality. I didn't try it in store, but I have a hunch this jacket would look even chicer cinched with a leather belt complete with a gold buckle.

Styling it with black trousers and accessories, this piece makes looking sophisticated this autumn very simple indeed. Next payday, this is what I'll be snapping up first.

With the change of season now properly setting in, I'm keen to revamp my wardrobe with a few new-season colour trends to bring my wardrobe into autumn 2024. Naturally, my first port of call for some styling inspiration was the Instagram feeds of French women. The chicest of the bunch are already incorporating the season's favourite shades into their outfits, so below are the five autumn colour trends that the French have convinced me I need in my wardrobe right now.

What makes autumn special in Oslo?
Oslo is very close to nature with all its parks, the woods and the shore. It is just a short trip out of the city centre and you're surrounded by nature. I think what’s so great is that you really get to experience how beautiful autumn is.

What are your favourite things to do when autumn rolls around?
In the middle of Frognerparken (the city's largest park), there is a very cute café called Anne på landet which sits overlooking a little pond and is surrounded by big trees. It has a big outdoor seating area but is very sweet inside too, for those rainy autumn days. It’s the ideal place to sit and enjoy the beautiful autumn colours in the park. Also, Theatercaféen is possibly the chicest café in town and really nice to visit during autumn.

Norway’s national dish is in-season during autumn and serves as a regular meal for most Norwegians during this time of year. It’s a really simple dish with lamb cooked in cabbage and pepper and served with potatoes, but its plainness is the beauty of the dish. It’s the perfect warm and cosy meal to serve on a cold and rainy autumn day. And nothing beats snuggling up at home with lit candles, blankets and a hot beverage.

Fashion-wise, I always really look forward to layering and pulling out all of my favourite pieces again, like big coats, blazers, boots and knits. The typical autumn colour palette is more "me" as I’m into more muted, deep and earthy tones, so I always like welcoming them back into my wardrobe.

Walking with a loved one in Frognerparken in the crisp autumn air with a warm coffee in hand whilst wearing my favourite trench coat.

What does your autumn uniform look like?
The weather here is really unpredictable so I make sure to prepare for anything. I always tell visitors to pack lots of layers—a good knitted sweater, maxi coat and umbrella are what you’ll usually find me wearing and carrying.

Where are the best photo spots?
Every part of the city has its own vibe and charm. I would either go to Frogner for more cute, classic feels, or Bjørvika if you’re looking for somewhere more modern and artsy.

If autumn in Oslo was a movie, which would it be?
I am in love with the movie One Fine Day. It just makes me want to put on a trench coat and run around the city. In many ways it reminds me of Oslo in autumn because it is a pretty hustling and bustling place, too. Also, it usually rains quite a lot here, which happens a lot in the film.

What's on your autumn mood board?
All things suede, dark brown and burgundy are on my fashion mood board this fall. I am also very into cow print and furry details done in a classy way. Then there’s jazz, espresso martinis, old '90s movies set in New York and lots of lit candles.

When it came to unearthing the sleekest haunts in New York City, Who What Wear's U.S. senior fashion editor, Eliza Huber, was a no-brainer ask. Extremely elegant and dialled into all things chic, this is how she autumns in the city.

What makes autumn special in New York?
There isn't a movie named after autumn in New York for no reason. It's arguably the best time in the city, which is why it's so heartbreaking that it only lasts about three weeks. Here, the weather goes from scorching hot throughout September to beautiful for a few weeks in October to cold, but those couple of weeks of 50-60ºF [around 10-15°C] temperatures are glorious. Central Park especially becomes all yellow, orange and red, and the air is crisp, allowing locals to wear the sweaters they've been dying to bring out without having to add a coat. Really, it's the only time you can wear big, chunky knits—I'm looking at you, Khaite—because the wide sleeves rarely fit inside of coat sleeves.

What are your favourite things to do when autumn rolls around?
New York has so many amazing old-school restaurants that feel very autumnal to me, from piano bars like Bemelmans at the Carlyle Hotel (which is more luxurious) to casual Italian "red-sauce" spots like Gene's in the West Village. Get a martini or a glass of chianti at the bar and people-watch after a long day—it's that kind of vibe. Waverly Inn is another great fall spot—the bar especially, which has a fireplace. Also, wearing fall clothes—sweaters, cashmere wrap coats and tights specifically!

What does your autumn uniform look like?
It really depends on when in autumn since the weather fluctuates a lot, but you can't go wrong with a great pair of Levi's, a nice cashmere sweater and some almond-toe flats or pumps, or stiletto boots. I'll throw on a long cashmere wrap coat or a barn jacket if it's chilly. For something dressier, a black column skirt and matching cashmere shell with a long coat, cool hat and leather gloves.

Where are the best photo spots?
Upper East Side on 5th or Park Avenue in front of the entries to the area's many pre-war building lobbies.

If autumn in New York was a movie, which would it be?
It seems dark (and it kind of is) but my favourite fashion movie tied to NYC is A Perfect Murder. I also love One Fine Day.

What's on your autumn mood board?
I always go back to '90s Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez and Prada runway images for inspiration, so a good amount of suiting and classic, minimal dresses or skirt and top combos. Also, lots of sculpted blazers, cream and black colour palettes, cashmere sweaters with silk skirts, funnel-neck outerwear and scarf tops, dresses and coats.

What makes autumn special in Geneva?
Definitely the weather! It’s not too hot and not too cold—really the perfect forecast. This means you can wear whatever you want for a big chunk of the season—a pretty dress with a cardigan layered over the top and jeans with a suede jacket are two of my most frequent looks for wearing around the city. I also love the colour palette of Geneva in the autumn; the shades of red, yellow and orange are some of the most vivid I’ve ever seen.

What are your favourite things to do when autumn rolls around?
I know it’s not that original, but my favourite thing to do in autumn is find a cosy spot in a local café and order a big coffee—a caramel macchiato on a sunny terrace is the dream. If I have a good book to hand, I can spend hours just watching the world go by.

I like to dine at certain restaurants in the autumn, too—if you’re looking for a good lunch spot, the uptown area has a lot of great options. White Rabbit does the best scrambled eggs and avocado toast, but if you have a sweet tooth, the pancakes are just as good. For lunch or supper, Yukiguni has the best ramen in the city! Also, what would autumn in Switzerland be without cheese?! The smell of cheese is one of my favourite things and now is the perfect time to eat some raclette and fondue with freshly-made bread. I know I keep saying it, but the colours you see across the city as the weather turns… it really is like a painting.

Taking a slow walk around the city and snapping photos of my favourite spots (with a coffee, yet again!).

What does your autumn uniform look like?
I always start my outfits with a good pair of boots—the weather might be pleasant but you never know when it might rain! Then some black trousers, a ribbed, roll-neck knit and a chic brown suede jacket. Simple, elegant and very '90s.

Where are the best photo spots?
There are so many good spots! I’d start in the Old Town and its narrow streets. My favourite is Promenade de Saint-Antoine, and anywhere around the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire. Another incredible spot is Place de Neuve; it’s right next to Parc des Bastion, another gorgeous photo spot. And of course, everything around Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) is so beautiful.

If autumn in Geneva was a movie, which would it be?
I’d say When Harry Met Sally. I know it’s set in New York, but the colours and outdoor scenes in the movie always make me feel like it’s set in Geneva.

What's on your autumn mood board?
Everything suede and lots of brown fashion—brown is the new black this season. Lined lips. My favourite shades are Stone by MAC and Endless Cacao by Make Up For Ever. Scent-wise, I have my eye on Libre by YSL. I love mood-boarding for my home too, and right now I’m manifesting lots of candles (Suede Vanilla by Rituals, Feu de Bois by Diptyque and Bibliotèque by Byredo).

For me, the perfect autumn day (or any day in general) begins with my daughter sleeping in and giving me a chance to have my morning coffee in peace! One of my favourite things to do (aside from shopping) is sitting down with a friend over food or a coffee and catching up, and in autumn that’s perfect, as it’s usually toasty inside and too cold to go anywhere else.

Definitely a long coat paired with knee-high boots—such a chic, fail-safe look and very versatile, covering most events you may have throughout the day.

I love walking around and shooting in the Green Park area. Every road and corner is picturesque and a true representation of London.

Paris in the autumn always feels so special and romantic. It's my favourite season and seems to bring out the best in the people who live there; they'll sit and chat in cafés whilst the weather is still warm enough to sit outside (we often experience an Indian summer), then indoors when we need to feel cosy. There are usually lots of big exhibitions during this season, so it’s the perfect time to visit museums, and we have so many. That's one of my favourite things to do on a rainy autumn day, specifically.

What are your favourite things to do when autumn rolls around?
My friends and I love bubble tea, so we often meet on the weekends in places like Laïze in Palais Royal; it’s cosy and I love the aesthetic. I always get a taro bubble tea with oat milk in the autumn as it’s so comforting. Another haunt of ours is Café Berry in the Marais area; it’s very small and can be difficult to get a seat but I love the chai latte. It’s also the perfect time to go to Angelina Café; it’s pricey but so beautiful if you want to have a very unique and chic Parisian tea time experience—its homemade hot chocolate is so good (and I don’t even like chocolate!). I also love going to the Tuileries Garden for the churros at the funfair.

I’ll start my day by practising gratitude and journaling, then I'll go for a run. Afterwards, I'll meet a friend, shoot some content and maybe stop by an exhibition or gallery. Lunch at my favourite Korean restaurant, Sam Chic, is always a treat, or I'll grab a delicious Italian sandwich and some tiramisu at Cosí. Window shopping at Galeries Lafayette never gets old (I love to go to the beauty hall and try out new perfumes). I am a big cinema person too, and autumn is the perfect time to go and watch a film there.

What does your autumn uniform look like?
I wear neutral colours all year long, and I stick with them in autumn, adding layers of brown. I love coats, so something tailored and elegant with trousers and either Mary Janes or boots, depending on the weather. I love wearing berets, too!

Anywhere in central Paris looks beautiful! I would say sunset is the perfect time to photograph the city in the autumn.

I love a cosy diner! Le Swan is my favourite for all seasons, but the vibe is best inside, so the colder weather makes the indoors more inviting. Also, heading just out of the city to towns like Prince Edward County and other rural areas feels good for the soul. That said, fall is also a great time to visit the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto—both usually have new exhibitions and it's less crowded at this time of year. And of course, the outfits! I love layers.

I also love experiencing autumn in nature, going for walks in the many parks dotted around the city—the sand pit in Grunewald Forest is a lovely place to visit. And autumn wouldn’t be autumn without at least one visit to my bookstore, Langer Bloomqvist.

Rising with the sun, spending my morning drinking infused water, taking my supplements, enjoying a spot of yoga or meditation, journalling and applying my skincare. Then I’ll head for a walk with the hope of finding a sun-drenched café where I can sit and have a cappuccino, followed by a lowkey lunch with friends and an evening in which I can do my wellness rituals.

What does your autumn uniform look like?
The good thing about Berlin is that you can really wear anything and nobody cares! It’s a pretty casual city. We have the wonderful tradition of Kanelbullens dag (otherwise known as Cinnamon Bun Day!) on 4 October, so for me, autumn has always been connected to the smell of freshly baked kanelbullar, which spills from every nearby café. As a population, we try to enjoy autumn as much as possible here, because our winters are so long, so every café and restaurant turns into a cosy spot. My favourites right now are Crum Heaven, Mellqvist and Lilla Caféet på Söder. I would also recommend strolling through Gamla Stan’s cobblestone alleys—you will definitely find the perfect autumn scenery there and experience the history of Stockholm at the same time.

I also just love the cosiness of it all. There's something incredibly comforting about wrapping up in layers, enjoying warm drinks and spending more time indoors as the days get shorter. The shift in energy and taking the season at a slower pace is something I really love. And the neutral, darker shades—it really is a stunning time for fashion.

It’s the perfect time to take long walks around Rome as it is still warm but cooler than the sultry summer.

What are your favourite things to do when autumn rolls around?
A walk in Villa Borghese is a must during the season. This Roman park allows you to admire all the shades of autumn, mixing with history, art and lakes. Shades of orange, green, yellow and brown are more intense here than anywhere else in the city. You can cover the area on foot, by bicycle or on a rickshaw for rent. Cosy nights in, too! And cooking and generally eating things with cinnamon—in autumn it has a whole other flavour and I could put it on everything!

A bike ride through the orange leaves, a pumpkin-spice-latte date, going home to make some cookies, the sound of the rain, lighting candles and starting the autumn Harry Potter marathon on my cosy sofa.

A combination of shirts, light sweaters or cardigans, comfy trousers, big brown bags and Uggs. And don’t forget a medium-weight jacket for the evening!

Where are the best photo spots?
I'll try to recommend you some places that aren't too touristy! Basically, anywhere in the centre of Rome is beautiful for a photo, but my favourites spots are Campo dei Fiori (especially in the morning when you can find the market), Villa Borghese, sunset at Giardino degli Aranci (a little corner of paradise), the cosy streets of Trastevere, Arco degli Acetari (this is a rare gem hardly anyone knows about), Caffè delle Arti for a homely aesthetic (and a rest), Quartiere Coppedè, Via del Vignola and the Orto Botanico, which is so special during fall!

If autumn in Rome was a movie, which would it be?
This is hard, but I’d always think about When Harry Met Sally, even though it's set in New York! I love this movie for its autumnal colours and crispy vibes, and I see so much of that here.

While recently scrolling through Instagram, I noticed two of my favourite Amsterdam-based influencers wearing the same fall trend: baggy denim-on-denim. Also known as the Canadian tuxedo, this outfit combo certainly isn't new, but the silhouette is key here: both women chose oversize, loosely fitting pieces. The 1990s gave us so many wonderful things; I'd argue some of the best movies ever made were created in that decade. Tamagotchis. Twenties-something Leonardo Dicaprio. Internet for the masses! And yet, I'd still say one of the very best things to come out of it was the fashion.

The fact we reference and, more importantly, meticulously emulate '90s fashion today showcases just how important it was. While other decades produced clothing that can feel rather costume-y when you wear it now—don't get me wrong, there was plenty of that from the '90s too!)—but the '90s hit different. Looking at the more distilled, minimal part of the era, there are so many looks from the archives that feel just as relevant today; so much so, they form the blueprint of the biggest trends from the last few seasons.

Style Notes: I have an unhealthy obsession with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's '90s style, and this is easily one of her most recognisable looks of the decade. I think it's safe to say that looking chic is something many of us are striving for right now and, on the cusp of a new season, I thought now would be the perfect time to round up some elegant autumn outfits that, if you follow the required steps to re-create them, will make it easy to do just that—look polished all season long.
