2024’s obsession with chocolate brown continues this year, but some of the mahogany tones are set to make way for a more milky cappuccino, as Pantone’s colour of the 2025, Mocha Mousse, trickles onto the runways. So far, there’s not a huge amount of the shade in stores, but seek out the deep butterscotch-meets-Dairy-Milk shade and you’ll have a fresh 2025 take on omnipresent brown.

And talking of tweaks, deep purple-y plum tones are the cool new alternative to 2024’s burgundy, and I've discovered that it’s much more flattering than you might first think. Also sitting at the more neutral end of the 2025 colour wheel is charcoal grey; an endlessly versatile shade that can be switched for anything you’d normally buy in black. It looks particularly cool in office attire—think tailoring, pleated or pencil skirts and wool overcoats.

Style Notes: Deep plum tones trickled onto the S/S 25 runways at Saint Laurent, Tibi, The Attico and Bottega Veneta. An evolution of burgundy, which dominated in 2024, plum looks great paired with everything from charcoal grey to chocolate brown. And whilst the purple-adjacent hue might feel intimidating, I discovered it’s actually super flattering. The Simkhai set I tried on is definitely a bold eveningwear option, but you could wear the blouse with black cigarette pants for a more low-key look. Alternatively, throw on a plum cashmere crewneck with charcoal denim and black boots to add some richness to your everyday uniform.

I’m particularly backing the school-uniform-esque charcoal hue seen at Max Mara and Bottega. It looks great in cashmere knitwear and tailoring sets—as seen at The Frankie Shop, Zara and Miu Miu.

Style Notes: We moved from Barbiemania fuchsia to last year’s love-in with frou-frou bubblegum. For 2025, pink is paler than ever, which makes it less saccharine and easier to wear. From sheer organza tops and dresses at Khaite to ballet-inspired pieces at Ferragamo, pink has a cool-girl feel this season. The Me + Em cashmere cardi I tried on has nearly sold out, and I can see why, as it’s so soft and such a pretty colour. I sized up and styled it with leather shorts to give the look some edge.

Style Notes: Pantone’s shade of 2025 has only just started to appear on the runways, but I suspect the milky-coffee hue is only going to gain ground. It’s trickier to wear than chocolate brown but looks great in knitwear and is flattering whether you're brunette or blonde. The Maje set I tried on can be dressed up with heels or down with flats and is composed of a lovely thick knit. Alternatively, embrace the shade in accessories; these ballet flats from Le Monde Beryl are super versatile.

As Goldilocks keenly sought after the perfect happy medium of all the things in her life, we seem to be doing the same with our footwear. After witnessing extremes in trends (see: chunky soles vs. flat soles, and extremely pointed toes vs. blunt squared-off edges), we're beginning to carve out a space for the median, like mid-sole trainers and toe shapes that mix two silhouettes together. Style and functionality needn't be segregated from one another, and this season it's all about opting for a chic yet practical style that will work for all kinds of weather.

As I've gone about my day-to-day errands, there have been a few specific footwear choices that keep catching my attention—no matter how much of a rush I'm in. Here are the unfolding London spring shoe trends that are solidly poised for a full run this season.

Style Notes: Rather than a drastic change in material, sole size or shape of loafer, the difference is in the details. The cinched stitching of pleated loafers are taking over London. It's a small change, but is remarkably noticeable from, say, a thick-heeled loafer or something smooth and seamless.

Style Notes: In London, grey skies are usually the norm. That's why a pop of red is so warranted. I love how quickly it brightens up an outfit (and the outdoors). Playful red tights jumped out at us throughout the winter, so it's fun to see this hue slink down into our shoes for warmer days. Style Notes: Square toe had its moment, as did pointed-toe shoes, so it only makes sense that this combination of the two shows face this spring. Style Notes: Mesh and netted flats had their moments last year, so I'm really loving this slightly edgier take on ballet flats. Studs and crystals are bold and help punctuate an outfit that's built out of basics. As our news writer noted, studded flats are more comfortable than other options, but provide a little extra drama to your outfit with zero effort required on your part.

Style Notes: As shoe silhouettes go, flat-soled trainers like Adidas' Sambas and Gazelles have won all of our hearts. Style Notes: After New Balance's marshmallow-soled 327s took over (I'm still wearing mine) and subsequently very flat-soled Adidas styles, it makes sense that soles with widths that hover right in between the two are appearing everywhere. Although this type of shoe is trending, it has really cemented itself as a classic you'll be able to wear for years without getting bored.

You're not seeing things; flats, boots and loafers have all appeared, as have other shoes with interested heel and toe details. Style Notes: With the lessened need for hardy shoes, spring is the season where we begin to see more delicate fabrications come to the fore. While you won't want to wear these in a downpour, there's no denying that the recent influx of satin shoes on the market is one of the prettiest shoe trends of the year.

From Prada's cult satin mules to trading in your leather ballet flats for something shiny, there are lots of ways to channel the trend. Below are a few of my favourites.

Style Notes: I may have my pedi at the ready but spring still has the occasional chill days where having your toes exposed is ill-advised. So, what's a fashion person to do? Enter the closed-toe mule.

The shoe equivalent to business in the front and party in the back, a closed-toe mule provides your feet protection from the elements to the front, but harbours all of the appeal of a sandal to the back. I wear mine on evenings out when I want to look polished but also not risk frostbite.

Style Notes: I'll cut to the chase—everyone's trainer mad this spring! While I still see a lot of Adidas Sambas in white and black, the style I'm seeing most of now is brightly coloured trainers.

Style Notes: Beloved by both French and Brit women alike, mary janes are enjoying levels of popularity this spring that have never before been seen. Instantly elegant, whether worn with jeans or dresses, this is a shoe you can rely on when you want to look polished.

Style Notes: Drawstring linen trousers have become a seasonal trend that alludes to the impending bright forecast, though this year we've been introduced to the relaxed trouser type, in addition to the trouser denim hybrid. The thin shoe-lace detailing is to 2024 what the paper bag waist was to 2017. It's the slight difference between a formal and informal trouser.

Style Notes: The brown phenomenon has dominated the fashion scene for the past few years. Starting with top-half offerings and dresses, it's now migrated south appearing on trousers and jeans, alike. Style Notes: If the first thing you think of when you hear the word "tailoring" is grey suits, think again. True to the colour and freshness of spring, tailoring is lightening up, unbuttoning its collar and working its way into our casual wardrobes too. Less "work shirts" and more colourful and contemporary takes on blazers, waistcoats and wide-leg trousers. Everything is looser, more languid and can be broken up into separates to be worn with denim on our dress-down days and styled up with sandals for the office. Think Aligne's buttermilk waistcoat with inky-blue jeans or COS' cargo pants with an oversized button-down. The perfect high-low balance.

3. Spring Black

Style Notes: Pops of red? We wore those all winter. Pastels? Far too predictable. In fact, the S/S '24 runways saw an unprecedented amount of black—black dresses, black blouses, black trousers, the whole shebang. And whilst it might not feel intuitive to opt for such a dark colour just when the weather is starting to look up, you can't go wrong with versatile monochrome. Black is one of the few options in our wheelhouse that never dates and never goes out of style, so save your brights and whites for the start of summer and continue to get wear out of that black knit you bought in winter. It'll look even better with a light skirt and cute flats.

4. Boho 2.0

Style Notes: Given our rediscovered love of cargo trousers, pedal pushers and bandeau tops, it was only a matter of time before one of the biggest trends of the past 20 years would circle back around again. "Boho" is back, thanks in no small part to Chemena Kamali's debut A/W '24 collection for Chloé setting social media on fire this month. No sooner than the models had stepped off the runway, fashion people were rushing to reinterpret this nostalgic trend, and it immediately began trending on Google. So minimalists, prepare yourselves. You're about to see a lot more quilting, patchwork, ruffles, chiffon, suede and layering happening over the next six months. Hands up: who still owns a disc belt?

5. Country Gingham

Style Notes: Boho not your bag? You may have cottoned on to the other most discussed trend on social media this month—countrycore. Less Cotswolds and a little more bluegrass, news of Beyoncé's country album had TikTok rushing to buy Stetsons and cowboy boots. On the runways, things were a little more reserved, and instead of denim cut-offs and buckled belts, designers like Versace and Sandy Liang opted for a "ladylike" take on the western look, making cute gingham a hero print perfect for spring. Could this be 2024's alternative to ditsy florals? We're inclined to think so.

6. Transitional Jackets

Style Notes: Any trend that puts practicality first is a winner in our book, and the S/S '24 runways were full of the shackets, tweed, leather and denim layers we were looking for to help us through the chilly transition into high spring. With our faux-fur coats safely packed away for another year, we're going to need something easy and light to throw on over dresses and tees, and these boxy jackets have answered the call. There will always be a space in our wardrobes for a classic trench coat, but these cropped styles are a strong option for 2024, especially when paired with shorts and minis.

7. Total Denim

Style Notes: I'm sure you'll agree that double denim has come a long way since the Britney and Justin era, but if you're still triggered by the memories of stonewashed denim shirts tucked into matching flares, gather round. 2024's double-denim outfits are far, far more luxe. For starters, there's the wash—faded denim is swapped for true blues and deep indigos that always look premium. Then there's the shape—relaxed and supersized silhouettes are still the cool girl's look du jour. And off course, the pieces themselves are brilliant: jorts! Jumpsuits! Tunics! In short, 2024's denim offering is anything but boring, and when worn head-to-toe, there's no easier outfit that requires minimal ironing.

Spring 2024 has barely begun, but already, I'm beginning to see some excellent and very stylish microtrends come into play; from the print that's taking over right now and proving most covetable when worn in a particular way to the flat-shoe style fashion people have started trading in their boots for.

1. LEOPARD TROUSERS

Style Notes: Leopard print is one of spring's biggest trends, no contest. A key part of the "mob wife" aesthetic with a strong presence on the runways, its fate was sealed from the moment 2024 began. Now, however, we're starting to see the very particular ways in which fashion people are wearing it, and surprisingly, trousers seem to be the go-to. Choose from tailored styles or jeans—so long as they feature a big-cat print, they'll be in.

2. WAISTCOATS OVER TEES

Style Notes: If you're anything like me, chances are you've already invested in a tailored waistcoat co-ord and are counting down to the warmer days when you can confidently wear it once more without the need for a coat. Until that opportunity presents itself, take your cues from stylish social-media dressers, who I keep seeing layering their waistcoats over tees. So '90s, so cool.

Style Notes: Khaite's Benny belt has become one of the most in-demand accessories of 2024 so far. Crafted from thick, black leather and embellished with jumbo, silver studs and a western-adjacent buckle, the belt is a cult item in its own right. Stock levels have been largely depleted since January, so it makes sense that other brands have begun serving up their own alternatives With styles at a variety of price points, I know the studded-belt microtrend is only going to feel more prevalent as the season progresses.

4. WHITE CIRCLE SKIRTS

Style Notes: As soon as the brighter days roll around, it's like a switch is flicked inside me, and all I want to wear is white. It still feels a touch too soon to dust off my cotton dresses just yet though, so I'll get my fix by way of one of the many, many white midi and maxi skirts on the market. With a full silhouette that'll make you look like you're walking on air, add to the elegant feel of the piece by styling it with a fitted blazer, ballet flats and demure drop earrings.

5. JUMBO BEAD NECKLACES

Style Notes: Jewellery has the power to change the tone of any look, and whilst last year was all about the statement stud earring (we have Bottega Veneta to thank for that), the chunky theme continues for 2024, but this time it's all about jumbo bead necklaces. Almost a choker in length, these necklaces look their chicest sitting just above the collarbone and will help you breathe a new lease of life into even your most worn pieces.

Style Notes: All-denim outfits were prevalent on the S/S '24 runways and are set to be just as big for autumn. One of the easiest microtrends to replicate from your own wardrobe (assuming you own a pair of jeans and either a denim shirt, jacket or top), I'm a Canadian citizen, so consider this your official invitation to try your hand at our national tuxedo.

Style Notes: Shake up your roster of neutral clothing with the addition of something in this expensive-looking, pale yellow tone. Just as versatile as any beige, camel or taupe piece but considerably more "fashion", wear this colour with your basics for an instant refresh, or try clashing with other classic spring colours.

8. TWO-TONE LOAFERS

Style Notes: I used to teeter around in high heels all the time, but now I only have eyes (and feet?) for flats. Between ballet slippers and slingbacks, I thought I'd worked my way through every flat shoe I could, including loafers, but one look at my FYP confirms that there's a fresh trend I should be trying in 2024: two-tone loafers. Choose between black, tan or navy as your darker base, then let the white and ecru panels make them all the more spring-worthy.

That said, I'm no robot and I can completely empathise with the want and need to make your outfits feel fresh again for spring. So, if you can't settle the urge to treat yourself to a new wardrobe addition, take my advice and invest in a bag. Style Notes: I know what you're thinking: suede bags work year-round. And you're right, they do! But I generally see more suede bags on the go during spring when the chances of full-on downpours are slightly slimmer. And right now, we're seeing the effects of said shift by way of the slouchy shoulder bags that are taking over the market. But now, with slightly off-white hues and interesting shapes to choose from, they feel a whole lot more premium and in turn, irresistible for those looking to refresh their looks.

Style Notes: Along with the pleasant temperatures of spring comes a lessened need to keep your hands in your pockets at all times. Now, with the opportunity to roam free, you have the option of carrying your bags in hand as opposed to feeling restricted to crossbodies. It's handy then that top-handle bags are a huge accessory trend for spring 2024.

Still, that doesn't mean I'm going to start haphazardly adding anything bright to my wardrobe. Instead, I decided to do a little research on which spring fashion colour trends my favourite dressers in social-media land are already wearing in 2024. Having analysed the key shades seen on the spring/summer 2024 runways, it's lovely to see much of the high-end palette making the leap from catwalk into real-life closets. Proof that colour trends are often the most seamless way to make your outfits feel like new.

From a fresh take on warm-weather pastels to the new neutrals I know will work hard for anyone, below I've outlined six key spring fashion colour trends that I know will be everywhere this year.

1. Butter Yellow

Richer than cream but requiring way less commitment than full-on shades of buttercup or canary, light yellow tones are fast becoming the biggest colour trend of spring 2024. It's subtly means it works much like neutral shades of sand and beige do—you'll be surprised at just how much it goes with.

A pretty, butter-yellow dress is now very high up on my wish list thanks to this Khaite number.

Pale yellow and white denim? A match made in style heaven.

The shade is soft enough to wear top-to-toe without it looking overpowering.

2. Corporate Grey

This season, the office siren trend is still going strong, and one of the easiest ways to channel it is by pairing grey with grey. While you could argue grey isn't a trend, I would say the way in which people are currently wearing it—that being from top to toe—absolutely is.

An easy way to pull together a grey look is to take a grey coat and belt it. Simple but so effective.

A grey-jumper-and-tailored-trouser outfit will work for so many occasions and outings.

Grey knitwear seems to be a common theme this season, too.

3. Sky Blue

I spent days analysing the looks from the spring/summer 2024 runways for our bumper trend report, and one theme that was impossible to resist was pale blue. To quote, well, myself: "According to Tagwalk, light blue looks were up 19% from spring/summer 2023, with 54% more blue looks featuring in the most prevalent designer collections in each city (said prevalence is based on the share of traffic generated by a designer compared to the total traffic of the city)". Now, we're seeing this blue influence trickle into the wardrobes of fashion people in London and Paris in a big way.

Mark my words—this colour will be huge for wedding season.

4. Tangerine

Bright orange tones are dominating the market right now, and it's not hard to see why. Between deep rind tones to juicy, borderline neon shades, the orange colour trend packs the punch so many fashion people want from their outfits. Just looking at these outfits makes winter feel like a very distant memory.

Neutralise statement orange shades ever-so-slightly by styling them with crisp white separates.

5. Fresh White

Where there is sun and warmth, white clothes will always follow. For me, the first sign that spring is on it's way comes when I feel the sudden urge to don my white dresses again. Influencers are already there too, already wearing cotton dresses like it's July. Others are layering up their looks for early spring—think suiting with jersey, and satin skirts with overlayed shirts.

6. Sage Green

I have plenty of khaki and olive green in my wardrobe but sage isn't a colour I've invested a great deal in. Looking at these outfits, I have no idea why! Delicate but directional, subtle but statement, as someone who rarely wears "fun" colours, this is the ideal hue to start with. Much like butter yellow above, I see this working with browns and denim and creams as well as bolder hues, too.

Dressing for business was big news on the spring/summer 2024 runway with designers exploring a very particular type of uniform—that of a stylish corporate stockbroker living the high-flying dream in '90s NYC. Specific, yes, but I find the best fashion always is. From structural suiting to button-up shirts, social media too has turned very Working Girl of late, and I'm not mad about it. On the cusp of a new season, I thought it was high time I took a closer look at the new trends I'm seeing come through this spring. As someone whose wardrobe contents is actually pretty classic, trend hunting gives me the chance to love frivolously through the more directional fashion choices of others and to present you with trends I truly believe will be of interest and have merit for the season ahead. My personal goal, however, is to pluck items with longevity—pieces that will last in your own wardrobes well beyond a season. This can be easier said than done but, for 2024, I have to say the trend line-up is looking distinctly, well, anti-trend. Ironic, I know. 

The pieces I keep seeing over and over certainly feel very 2024 but they are far from new—they're items that always seem to come back into fashion (some on an annual basis), making them feel simultaneously timeless. This is great news as given their classic nature, they may already exist in your wardrobe, and I'll have achieved my goal of finding you fashionable spring items that will feel relevant for a very long time. 7 Classic Spring Trends to Try in 2024

1. Leather Coats

Style Notes: Although you might think leather to be a winter staple, in reality, it's spring that it truly comes into its own. After all, although it can be extremely hot to wear on warm days, it can be chilly in cooler temperatures. Enter spring, with its palatable brighter days and, yes, rising Celsius, which make it the ideal time to tap into the perennial leather coat trend.

2. White Shoes

Style Notes: White shoes might be trending now—I know they are because Google searches are through the roof for them—but, mark my words, every year when spring begins to approach, they make a miraculous comeback. Case in point: Hannah Lewis's latest look. If you want your white shoes to feel especially 2024, opt for a pointed toe or slingback option.

3. Corduroy Trousers

Style Notes: If, like me, you're looking for a new trouser trend to tag-team with your favourite jeans, look no further than corduroy. Although firmly in the wardrobe rotations of French women, the rest of us are starting to appreciate the appeal of corduroy more and more, especially for spring and autumn. Indeed, this is a trend that works year-round, only adding to its timeless selling point.

4. Waistcoat Co-Ords

Style Notes: Having taken some time off over the winter, rest assured waistcoats (and their matching trousers!) are back on the up for spring 2024. This is great news as I already own two such co-ords. However, if you're looking to invest in a new set, I'd go for trusty black.

5. Full Skirts

Style Notes: Bu-bye, leggings, I'm leaving you behind for skirts. Okay, okay, maybe I'm being too hasty—I'll always love my leggings—but skirts are a hot-ticket item every spring. In fact, they're so current for 2024, according to Tagwalk, there was 18% more of them on the spring/summer 2024 runways than there were the year prior. It's early days but I'm already seeing the style set's affinity for full skirts begin to emerge once more.

6. Burgundy Bags

Style Notes: We already told you about the burgundy accessories trend a few weeks ago but let me distill it farther. Get this: Burgundy bags are it. Premium looking and with the ability to bestow your look with an air of polish no matter how much you choose to spend on one, I don't know why they weren't more of a "thing" sooner.

7. Leopard Print 

Style Notes: Of all the print trends out there—perhaps stripes and florals aside—leopard is the one with the most everlasting appeal. While it's never off of the style agenda, it does fluctuate in its rankings. And right now, for spring 2024, it's very near the top.
